Today, the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Eng. Fahd Al-Jubeir, made an inspection visit to the International City investment project in Dammam. He was accompanied by the acting CEO of the Eastern Province Development Authority, Dr. Talal Al-Maghlouth, the Secretary's Deputy for Investments and Revenue Development, Eng. Hamdan Al-Aradi, and a number of leaders from the Secretariat and the Authority.
They were briefed on the advanced stages of the project, which has reached 15 pavilions, representing several countries and highlighting diverse cultures. The first phase is being held on an area of 200,000 square meters, while the total area of the project is 650,000 square meters. The project has a unique character that brings the world together in one place. The lake hosts some pavilions and events for each country to highlight its special flavor, culture, popular cuisines, and products in a scene that allows visitors an endless journey between global customs and traditions and a family atmosphere that suits all its members, especially with the approaching improvement in weather.
The project is not limited to simply incorporating cultures, but has expanded to become an integrated entertainment center. It includes a lake at the center of the project, a hub for tourism, entertainment, and marine activities, a floating market, and an open-air theater that can accommodate 8,000 visitors. In addition, it includes a modern amusement park, restaurants, various facilities, multiple markets for product displays, and pedestrian paths, making the area a major tourist and entertainment destination in the Eastern Province.
The global city has achieved a significant level of completion, with the first phases of the project nearing completion in record time. It will become a civilized destination for cultural integration and entertainment diversity, and a promising step toward enhancing the Eastern Province's position as a tourism and investment destination, as part of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The mayor of the Eastern Province, Eng. Fahd Al-Jubeir, said that in light of the Saudi Vision 2030 launched by the wise leadership - may God protect them - which is based on a thriving economy through involving the private sector in development and attracting local, Gulf and foreign investors, in the Eastern Province, we are witnessing an unprecedented investment movement that is a distinctive model in light of the support of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, and His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, his deputy - may God protect them - and with the follow-up of His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail.
He pointed out that these investment projects are an extension of the Secretariat's efforts to develop the investment system and increase revenues to support and strengthen the national economy, by involving the private sector in development and attracting local, Gulf and foreign investors. He explained that these projects were launched with investment models that enhance their sustainability in partnership with the private sector to keep pace with the tourism, entertainment and development movement in the region and to contribute to creating a qualitative shift in the region's development and a leap in the elements of quality of life, as we have witnessed remarkable progress in the quality of life indicators for the cities of the Eastern Province to reflect the development leap by taking advantage of the relative advantages of the region's geographical location as it is the gateway to the Arab Gulf countries.
Al-Jubeir added that the Secretariat has worked to increase investment attractiveness, facilitate the investor journey, and involve the private sector in development, services, and infrastructure. The Secretariat has invested more than 95% of available investment assets through projects with an implementation cost exceeding 30 billion riyals, which has contributed to the creation of tens of thousands of job opportunities, contributing to stimulating economic activity in the region. He pointed out that this experience is not just a temporary project, but rather one of the distinctive investment stories that the Eastern Province Secretariat is working on, and reflects the fruits of the blessed and inspiring vision initiatives.
Engineer Al-Jubeir extended his thanks to His Highness the Emir of the Eastern Province and His Highness the Deputy Emir for their continuous support and generous sponsorship of these development projects.
Engineer Fahd called on all investors, entrepreneurs, and those interested in investing to review the available investment opportunities and their details, and to participate in the investment industry through the digital portal for investment in Saudi cities, the smart application (Foras), or to communicate via interactive channels with the Investment Excellence Center at the Secretariat with complete transparency and ease.
For his part, the acting CEO of the Eastern Province Development Authority, Dr. Talal Al-Maghlouth, praised the support provided to development projects in the region by His Highness the Emir of the Eastern Province and His Highness the Deputy Emir. He commended the efforts of the Eastern Province Municipality, led by Engineer Fahd Al-Jubeir, and pointed out that the International City project in Dammam represents a qualitative addition to the tourism and entertainment destinations in the Eastern Province, providing an exceptional experience for visitors that combines culture, entertainment, marine activities, and unique events.
